Terms of use
Effective date: 19 October 2026
Contact: support@tapesail.app
These terms cover the TapeSail app (package com.tapesail.app on Android and iOS) and this website, tapesail.app. TapeSail is provided by Feipeng Liu ("we"). By using the app or the website, you agree to these terms.
Your recordings are yours
TapeSail records and edits audio on your device and keeps your recordings in its private app storage. We do not receive them and we do not hold a copy (see the Privacy policy). You own what you record. You are responsible for how you use it, including getting anyone's permission where the law where you are requires it before you record them.
Back up what matters
TapeSail has no online library and does not back up your recordings. Removing the app or clearing its storage removes its library. Use Save to Files or Share to keep a copy of anything you cannot lose.
TapeSail Pro
- One-time purchase. Pro is optional. You buy it once, through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and it is not a subscription. The store shows the price in your currency.
- The store handles payment. Apple or Google processes the payment under its own terms. We do not receive your card details.
- Refunds follow the store's rules. A refund for a Pro purchase is requested from, and decided by, the store where you bought it. We cannot refund a store purchase ourselves.
- iPhone and Android are separate. A purchase on the App Store does not unlock Pro on Google Play, or the other way round. You restore Pro with the same store account that bought it.
- No transfer from Audio Recorder & Editor. TapeSail is a separate app. It cannot read the old app's data or its purchases, and a purchase in the old app does not unlock anything in TapeSail. You can move recordings yourself by importing files.
- Your recordings stay yours. If a purchase is refunded or revoked, recordings you have already made stay on your device and remain playable and exportable. Saving a new copy with a Pro tool needs Pro.
Features and plans may change in later versions.
Provided as is
To the extent the law allows, TapeSail and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Recording depends on your device, its microphone and any connected equipment, so we cannot promise that every device, codec or Bluetooth route works or that a recording will never be interrupted.
Limit of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of recordings or data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app or the website. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which for a free user is nothing.
Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have under the consumer protection law where you live, or any liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app or the website to break the law, to infringe other people's rights, or to disrupt them. Do not reverse-engineer the app except as the law allows despite this term.
Other companies' services
Purchases, downloads and updates go through Apple or Google, and your phone's operating system provides the microphone and storage. Their terms apply to their services. Apple, App Store, Google and Google Play are trademarks of their owners, and TapeSail is not affiliated with them.
Guides and help articles
Guides and help articles on this website are general information about recording and editing audio. They are not legal, medical or professional advice.
Changes
We may update these terms. The new version replaces this page at the same address, and the effective date above changes. Continuing to use TapeSail after a change means you accept the updated terms.
