Privacy policy
This page covers two things: the TapeSail app, and this website. The app section is the same text as the policy inside the app.

The TapeSail app

TapeSail privacy · 19 October 2026
TapeSail (com.tapesail.app) is provided by Feipeng Liu. For privacy questions, contact liuf0005@gmail.com. This notice describes the current ad-free app.
Audio and library data
Recording and editing run on your device. TapeSail stores your recordings, imported copies, names, dates, audio format details, edit drafts and preferences in its private app storage. Temporary audio copies are used for previews, conversion and sharing. TapeSail does not upload your audio or library to a developer-operated server, and has no app account or cloud sync.
Microphone and device access
Microphone access is used when you choose to record, including an active background recording. Notifications on Android provide recording controls. File pickers access files and destinations you choose. Android’s optional tone action uses permission to change system settings; older Android versions may request storage access for that action. Free-space checks help avoid starting a job without enough storage; that information is not transmitted by TapeSail.
Purchases
Apple or Google processes Pro payments under its own terms and privacy practices. TapeSail receives product prices and transaction information to verify ownership, restore purchases and handle pending payments or refunds. Android retains a signed purchase receipt in app-private storage for offline verification; iOS uses StoreKit’s verified transaction cache. TapeSail does not receive your payment card details or send receipts to a developer billing server. Store purchases are associated with your purchasing store account.
Sharing, exports and backups
When you choose Share or Save to Files, the selected copy and its filename go to your chosen app, recipient or storage provider, which may upload them under its own practices. TapeSail cannot remove their copies. TapeSail does not operate a backup service. Android app backup is disabled. On iOS, the operating system may include app data in device or iCloud backups according to your settings. Export important recordings yourself; restoring a device backup has not been certified as a TapeSail recovery method.
Retention and removal
Library files and drafts remain until you remove the app or clear its app storage using device controls. Moving a recording to Trash hides it and retains it for Restore; it does not erase the audio. Temporary files can remain until cleaned by the app or operating system. Removing TapeSail does not remove exported files, recipients’ copies, OS backups or purchase records held by Apple or Google. Manage those with the relevant provider. A purchase refund is handled by the purchasing store.
Google billing diagnostics on Android
Google Play Billing automatically sends technical billing data to Google when connecting to the store, checking or restoring Pro, and handling purchases. Store checks run when TapeSail starts or returns to the foreground, including for free users and Pro owners. Data includes billing operations, results and errors; app and billing-library versions; a randomly generated billing-client session identifier; device make, model, Android version and build, and memory size; locale language and country, time zone and event timing; and network type and SIM operator codes when available. Google also sees connection information such as your IP address, which can indicate a general region. TapeSail does not request GPS or other location permission. These data help operate, diagnose and improve billing. Diagnostic events may be queued in private storage before delivery. There is no in-app opt-out for billing diagnostics. Recordings, library filenames and edit drafts are not passed to billing.
Ads, privacy controls and diagnostics
This build has no ads, advertising SDK or developer-operated crash-reporting service. We have not added separate TapeSail app-usage analytics. TapeSail does not request tracking permission or use an advertising identifier. Google controls retention and deletion of billing-service data under its privacy practices; removing TapeSail does not delete data already received by Google. Its privacy information and controls are at policies.google.com/privacy. TapeSail does not promise that every diagnostic record can be individually located or deleted through those controls. Apple, Google and your device may also process store transactions, diagnostics and backups under their own settings and policies. If ads or online services are added, the relevant disclosures and choices must be updated before they are enabled.
Contact and changes
If you email support, the developer and email providers receive what you choose to send and use it to respond. Do not include sensitive audio unless you want to share it for support. Contact liuf0005@gmail.com with privacy or removal requests about information you sent directly. This notice will be updated when TapeSail’s data practices change.
This website
This section covers tapesail.app, the website. The TapeSail app is covered above.
What the website does
tapesail.app has pages about the app, a Help page, these legal texts, and guides and help articles. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms and no comments, so it does not ask you for personal details.
Hosting and request logs
The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. When you load a page, Vercel's servers receive your request, including your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and details your browser sends such as its user agent and the page that referred you. Vercel keeps request logs to run, secure and troubleshoot the service, under Vercel's privacy policy. We use these logs only to keep the site running and to look into faults.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. Vercel describes it as cookieless: it does not set cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not track you across sites. We see aggregated figures such as page views, referring sites, country, browser and device type. Details are in Vercel's Web Analytics privacy notes.
Cookies and local storage
This website sets no cookies and does not use local storage or similar identifiers of its own.
Published articles
Guides and help articles are written by us and published to the website. They are kept in a private Vercel Blob store. That store holds the articles only. It never holds visitor data.
If you email support@tapesail.app, the message is forwarded to the developer's personal inbox, and the email providers involved handle it under their own policies. We use what you send only to reply to you. Do not include sensitive audio unless you want to share it for support, and never send passwords or payment details.
Links to other sites
The website links to the App Store, Google Play and other sites. They have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Your choices
We do not build profiles or keep an account for you, so there is usually nothing on the website for us to look up. If you emailed us and want that correspondence removed, write to support@tapesail.app.
Changes to this section
If the website starts to collect something new, this section changes first, and the date at the top of the page changes with it.
