TapeSail help
Answers to the common questions, plus how to reach a person. The same topics are in the app under Settings → Help and work offline.
Record and keep a take
Tap Record and allow microphone access. Pause and resume from the recording sheet; Stop and save keeps the take in your library. Background recording uses the microphone indicator and, on Android, a recording notification. If recording is interrupted, check the retained take before resuming. If access is denied, allow the microphone in your device’s app settings.
Recover an unfinished recording
Reopen TapeSail and look for the unfinished take. Use Retry recovery or export the retained original if offered. Keep TapeSail installed and free device space before retrying. Do not clear app storage while you need an unfinished recording.
Edit without losing the original
Trim, volume and fades save a new copy. Your original is kept. The latest draft is saved on this device; undo and redo history lasts while the editor is open. WAV rewind, while recording is paused, discards the selected tail before recording continues. It does not reverse playback.
Free tools and TapeSail Pro
Recording, basic edits, WAV/AAC conversion and exporting existing files are free. You can preview advanced effects for free; saving effects, balance or repeat, and combining recordings, requires a one-time Pro purchase. Save basic edits only keeps the advanced draft for later. Cancelling or failing a purchase keeps your audio and draft.
Restore a purchase
Open Settings → TapeSail Pro → Restore purchases using the same store account that bought Pro. Android and iOS purchases are separate, and the old recorder’s purchases do not transfer. A pending purchase unlocks Pro only after store approval. If the store is unavailable, try again with a connection. Previously verified Pro stays usable offline; refunds and account changes are checked when the store is available.
Export and protect your recordings
Use Save to Files to choose a destination, or Share to send a copy to another app. Check that the exported file opens before removing TapeSail. Removing the app or clearing its storage removes its local library. TapeSail has no cloud library or automatic cross-device transfer. Trash retains recordings and Restore brings them back.
Formats and free space
WAV is uncompressed; AAC saves smaller files after recording ends. AAC capture temporarily needs PCM storage: about 5.3 MB per minute at 44.1 kHz mono, twice that in stereo. Saving, recovery and effects may need more temporary space. Device microphones and codecs may adjust settings; check any notice shown after saving. Use WAV when exact sample duration matters.
Move recordings from Audio Recorder & Editor
TapeSail is a separate app. It can’t read the old app’s library or its purchases, so recordings move as files that you choose.
In the old app, share or save each recording you want to keep to your phone’s storage or another place you can reach. Then, in TapeSail, tap the Import audio button in your library and pick those files. If you are changing phones, move the files over first in whatever way you normally use. Imported recordings are copies kept in TapeSail’s own library.
Purchases don’t carry over. Pro in TapeSail is its own one-time purchase on each store, and the old app’s purchases stay with the old app.
